My wife and I took shelter in The Ship during a cold and rainy November day exploration of the Holborn area. It turned out to be a great decision, the bar was crowded but we found a table upstairs in the impressive dining room. The atmosphere was classic and historical, the walls thick with London memorabilia and photos. The food was outstanding (for a pub) and the service was excellent. Although many other options are nearby, The Ship made a very welcome and satisfying sanctuary. We would happily go again next time we're in the area.

The Ship has recently become become a regular destination and we wish now it always had been. The dark wood panelling creates a nice cosy atmosphere inviting you to want to stay just a little bit longer. The food is excellent, my favourites being the ribs and chunky hand cut chips.
The real ales are solid and
regularly include offerings from St. Austell's, Theakston, Wye Valley, and Otter. A house ale rounds it out. The staff put the icing on the cake.

This 16th-century tavern is a genuine London treasure, with its timber walls and floors offering an incredible historical atmosphere. The extensive selection of real English ales, combined with genuinely friendly and efficient service, made the experience exceptional. We greatly enjoyed the hearty and delicious food, which elevated the pub from a stop for a drink to a great dining destination. Tucked away in a fantastic central location, this spot is perfect for spending quality time in a superb, authentic British setting. It is simply a must-visit for anyone seeking a true, atmospheric London pub experience.
